Northmoor is a secluded rural parish between the rivers Thames and Windrush in the English County of Oxfordshire. It lies 6 miles south-west of Oxford and 5 miles south-east of Witney. The parish includes the hamlets of Moreton and Bablock Hythe. The eastern and southern boundaries of the parish mostly follow the River Thames, and the western boundary the river Windrush, with small deviations presumably representing the rivers' earlier courses. The sinuous northern boundary follows small streams between Northmoor's and Stanton Harcourt's open fields, and in the extreme north-east follows the perimeter of an ancient enclosed meadow. Northmoor has a 13th century parish church dedicated to St Denys, a village hall which doubles as a community meeting place and Christmas pantomime venue, and two remaining pubs, the Red Lion in the High Street and The Ferryman Inn at Bablock Hythe. The village is set amongst fields, mostly given to raising cattle and sheep, in a part of the Upper Thames valley which has been designated an Environmentally Sensitive Conservation Area. Walkers and cyclists have many bridleways and footpaths. The village is on the Oxfordshire cycle path and public footpaths connect with the Thames Path and Northmoor Lock.
